Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback helps women to better focus their attention on the daily challenges that life presents.

The goal of treatment at the Victorian is to give the woman the most tools possible for long term abstinence. The Victorian uses a variety of treatment modalities to create the "perfect blend" of processes. Andrea Brokaw

One of these treatment processes is Neurofeedback.

The women who have received Neurofeedbck treatment in our program have provided positive feedback on ways that it has helped strengthen their recovery.

Andrea Brokaw, Neurofeedback Program Manager

Some of the benefits of Neurofeedback we have documented include:

  • better stress management
  • improved concentration
  • improved sleep
  • reduced anxiety
  • more effective problem solving in school and career

Our specialist Andrea Brokaw will meets with the woman 2-3  times a week to have her participate in therapeutic exercises that will help the woman more effectively manage stress,  control emotions, and learn new things.

The Neurofeedback process is actually pleasant and challenging as the woman will be interacting with a game on a screen by using her mind. As the woman improves her focus and concentration over many sessions, the difficulty of the interactive game increases.

When combined with the more behavioral focus of traditional therapy and 12-Step principles, this scientific component gives the woman even more momentum toward making a lasting change in her life.

Families will learn more about Neurofeedback during the Family Program. Read more about Neurofeedback in this article from our Program Director Michelle Smith.
